Japan receives LNG spot cargo from Nigeria

Japan, the world’s largest buyer of liquefied natural gas, received a spot cargo from Nigeria on Thursday; a ship-tracking data has shown.
The LNG Pioneer, with a capacity of about 138,000 cubic meters, docked at the Osaka Gas Co.-owned Senboku terminal in central Japan.  The vessel loaded the gas at Nigeria LNG Ltd.’s Bonny Island plant and departed November. 28.
The Senboku facility has a capacity of about 15.6 million metric tons a year and receives long-term shipments from Indonesia, Malaysia, Qatar, Australia, Oman, Brunei and Russia.
Asian LNG buyers typically import spot cargoes from December to March to meet peak heating and power demand.
