APC Chieftain cautions politicians against destabilising Nigeria

Following the angry exchange of words ongoing between politicians in the country at present, a chieftain of the All Progressive Congress (APC) has urged all political figures in Nigeria to desist from acts that may jeopardise the unity and peace of the nation.

The Deputy National Treasurer of the APC, Usman Danmadamin-Isa, who made the call in Sokoto on Thursday, described the configuration of Nigeria as an act of God.

“Whatever we are doing, we should steer clear of all acts capable of truncating the nation’s unity,” he said. “Peace and unity are the most veritable tools for national development, and Nigerians must cherish the corporate existence of the nation.”

“The nation’s diversity of religions, cultures and ethnicity has a purpose as God makes no mistake. These diversities are therefore aimed at further uniting Nigerians and not to divide them,” he said.

He urged politicians and other stakeholders in the Nigeria Project to shun all provocative statements capable of derailing the nation.

“Politicians should engage in the politics of issues, integrity and patriotism, rather than pursuing selfish interests. We should all put Nigeria first in our minds and not our personal gains. We should always ponder on the long range impact of all our actions on the country,” he said.
