Segun Olulade, the Chairman of the Lagos State House of Assembly’s Committee on Information, Security and Strategy, has supported the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) request for N93 billion to prosecute the 2015 general elections, explaining that no money is too much to ensure the installation of good government.
INEC’s Chairman, Prof. Attahiru Jega, had said it would cost N93 billion to register the 73.5 million electorate and conduct the 2015 elections.
Giving his backing for Jega’s request on Thursday, the lawmaker, Segun Olulade, dismissed suggestions that the cost of conducting elections in Nigeria is high........

“I believe the money in question is not too much, if only the government could do it well and not waste the tax payers’ money to favour a particular group or political party,” he said. “If the election is free and fair, there is nothing too much to have good governance in place.
“In as much as we are sure that our votes would count and they are able to do it well and spend the money judiciously, it is okay.”
He, however, called for greater transparency from INEC in the conduct of the 2015 elections, to boost voters’ confidence.
